🏃Chasing Classic JDM Cars🔰

2 March 2023

Datsun Fairlady Z 260Z
1975 Datsun Fairlady Z and 2023 Nissan 400Z

There is a noticeable shift occurring as popular cars from Generation Y and Z (1980-2012) start to hit that magical ‘classic car’ age.

Now to be considered a ‘classic car’ the vehicle typically has to be 25-years or older.

The common theme is the older the car the more historical interest or “collectibility’ the vehicle will have.

Japanese (JDM) classics are now becoming highly sort after, slowly restored or preserved rather than scrapped.

The problem is everyone has a different understanding of how these cars should be restored or preserved, as we all have different tastes, abilities and budgets.

It’s an interesting journey when your a prospective buyer of these kind of cars. No two cars seem to be the same and almost always corners have been cut, which ultimately lets down the vehicle but doesn’t necessarily translate to the perspective purchase price.

Our journey recently into the world of Classic Datsuns has been a major eye opener, with cars being restored by the owner and not an industry professional.

Basically if you have a car that fits this narrative, attention to detail is paramount otherwise you’ve wasted your time.

Traction Society: A Hub for Automotive Passion and Culture

Traction Society is an automotive lifestyle community and online platform that focuses on celebrating automotive culture, art, photography, music, and the people who drive it forward. We're more than just a brand, it’s a movement. We want to unite enthusiasts through a shared love for the wheeled lifestyle, the performance, the design, and the experiences.

    Focus on Community:

Beyond just cars, Traction Society aims to create a space where people passionate about creativity and culture can connect and share their interests. Being Australian based we explore the Automotive scene in Oz regularly, but also enjoy travelling around the world and sharing this scene from other countries.

    Online Presence:

We have a strong online platform where we showcase a diverse automotive community, with in-depth build features, photography, art, and other content related to the wheeled community.

Traction Society began in 2021 as an Instagram based Magazine, following a similar style emulated by popular 90's Automotive Magazines such as Hot 4's, that are sadly no longer in print. It quickly became evident that in-depth write-ups about modified vehicles—and the personal stories and knowledge shared by their owners—had become increasingly rare.

Traction Society is dedicated to reigniting that shared passion through automotive infotainment on Instagram, our blog, and our YouTube channel. We've also launched a unique automotive-inspired apparel line, thoughtfully curated to complement our latest publications.

    Events and Gatherings:
Traction Society often hosts / co-hosts events and meetups for their community to come together and share their passion. We’re preparing to embark on an annual event which celebrates the scene, with exhibitors hand picked by the Traction Society collective.

    Founder:
Adam Petersen is the key figure behind Traction Society, with a background in Advertising and Journalism he embraces the automotive culture with a vision to create a broader creative community.

“Traction Society isn’t just about cars—it’s about the lifestyle, the passion, and the pursuit of excellence in every aspect of the ‘wheel’ world.”
